The Sony Playstation arrived in 1995 and conquered the market at full speed, by keeping hardware costs low and making money on the games. In 2000 its successor, the PS2 came into the picture. Sony was the leader on the console market in the second half of the 90s.

There was a good classic emulator, VGS (which Sony tried to ban) but it doesn't work on OSX. Flarestorm is a recent attempt, but still not that compatible. PCSX promises much, and for instance emulates the great Raiden DX
