For a computer which was sold over 30 million times it
might not come as a suprised that a subculture thrived
around it. There was a large demoscene, which even now
shows some beautiful new things as C64CH shows. This scene later evolved
even further on the Amiga.
There were many classic magazines. In the UK Zapp!64 and Commodore Format were the most creative
magazines. In Germany C64er ruled with incredible ABC-numbers
(300000+). In the Netherlands there were Commodore
Info, with type-in listings and Commodore Dossier,
more a creative magazines which helped the user to
make their own discoveries.
